WOD LOVE YOUR BONES WEEK FOR CHILDREN
Love Your Bones” week was organized by the director of the foreign language studio “LingvArts”, Taissiya Ponomareva, in Yaroslavl from October 15 till October 20 to mark World Osteoporosis Day.
This year more than 60 children - students of the foreign language studio LingvArts, took park in the « Love Your Bones Week» from October 15 to October 20 under the leadership of « Osteorus» (Russian Patient Society).
During "Love your Bones Week" pupils studied the skeletal system and “rules” on how to keep bones healthy from childhood, they watched the educational video « Yes, to Healthy Bones» and the cartoon «Telechannel Health» made in the orphanage « Sunny Home».
They also watched the video”Give Patients A Voice» about the fate of an award winning actor from Yaroslavl, Victor Grigoryuk. The children also read texts about bones, sang songs about our skeletal system and performed «Quick Osteoporosis Quiz for Kids» (IOF) .
Older kids guessed the meaning of osteoporosis poster signs and wrote their own «Healthy Bones Rules». Smaller kids created their own posters « My Bones Love...».
Thanks to these activities, teenagers of the studio learnt a lot about how «to grow» strong bones and shared their knowledge with their parents and grandparents.
Younger kids took part in All- Russia drawing competiton « I,You, He ,She — Together We Are A Whole Country AGAINST Osteoporosis-- FOR Healthy Longevity» organised by “Osteorus” .
IOF would like to thank LingvArts Head Teacher Taissiya Ponomareva, and OsteoRus, for the wonderful initiative and support of World Osteoporosis Day - it is so important to help young people understand how to take care of their bones and the importance of bone health for their future!
